The early "New Age" philosophy of New Thought, which was wildly popular at the turn of the 20th century, owes much of its emphasis on the concept of "mind over matter" to the works of Thomas Troward. THIS book contains the substance of a course of lectures recently given by the writer in the Queen Street Hall, Edinburgh. Its purpose is to indicate the Natural Principles governing the relation between Mental Action and Material Conditions, and thus to afford the student an intelligible starting pointfor the practical study of the subject.

Thomas Troward was a British author and philosopher born in 1847 in Punjab, India. He was educated in England and became a member of the Indian Civil Service, serving in various positions in India and England for over 30 years. Troward was a prolific writer and his works focused on the power of the mind and the laws of the universe. He believed that the universe was governed by immutable laws and that individuals could tap into these laws to achieve success and happiness. His most famous works include "The Edinburgh Lectures on Mental Science," "The Dore Lectures on Mental Science," and "The Law and the Word." These books have been influential in the New Thought movement and have been praised for their clarity and practicality. Troward's philosophy was based on the idea that individuals could achieve their goals by aligning their thoughts with the laws of the universe. He believed that the universe was a manifestation of the divine and that individuals could tap into this divine power to achieve their desires. Troward died in 1916, but his works continue to inspire and influence people around the world. His ideas have been embraced by many in the self-help and personal development communities, and his legacy continues to grow.
